Labyrinthos (Lost in a Greek Labyrinth)
for Symphony Orchestra
Labyrinthos is a Latin word. It appears as designs on pottery or basketry, as body art. The Romans built many primarily decorative labyrinth designs on walls and floors in tile or mosaic. In this piece, I used a lots tri-tone interval to build the melody and accompany. It was the basic element of my piece.
Like Labyrinth, there is only a way to reach the goal. My piece's feeling is struggling in a kind of mood, but I tried to connect a fast and light movement to get rid of that feeling and reach the end.
It performed on 22.4.2012 & 14.6.2012

Abnormal Dimension
for Symphony Orchestra
This orchestral piece was first premiere in June, 08. It is a programme music which is divided into three sections. The story describes some adventurous crew in 18th century who set out to a mysterious place where they encountered a big storm. The music reaches its pinnacle and stops when the storm overwhelmed the ship and all people jumped to the sea. At this moment an oboe solo begins to express the lost and lonely feeling after they awoke. Then they start their adventure and after seeing some abnormal plants and creatures, they started to escape and find a way out, with more intensified music to express their mood. The appearance of brass instruments in second section makes the piece more ghosty, with occasional imitation of monster's groans by strings. The middle part's modulation and change in tempo is dazzling to audience with the mysterious melody leading every listener to a mystical place. The music reaches its climax with its intensity and appearance of different melodies. The third section begins with the theme in the first section, followed by a slowly fading sense, until the piece ends in C minor.
It performed on 26.6.2011, 18.4.2010 & 20.6.2008.
Collision of Air Molecules
for Flute and Tape
My piece Collision of Air Molecules is composed for solo flute and tape. In fact, the tape part is recorded with flute. It included a rhythmic idea and long low register note which is out of flute register. The solo part has dialogue with the tape. For example, some smoothed phrase is responded to the long notes of tape. Every bar contains four crotchets that are equal to 4 seconds. Therefore, the soloist can easily to follow the score.
It performed on 24.6.2010 & 15.4.2010
